Problem Cherry Trees

I have two very large (over 40 ft I think) cherry trees in my yard. They 
started as "volunteers", I think, way back when - and they are too big to take 
out easily - plus I like the shade.
Problem is the cherries. In a good year I am inundated with small wormy fruit
that is almost impossible to get cleaned up. Yellow jackets love them too!
Does the group have any idea whether fruit trees can be "sterilized" in some
way to prevent fruit forming? 
Appreciate any advice.
