Request for help with dying potted palm

I have a potted palm which I purchased approx 5 weeks ago. I have
given it indirect sunlight and moderate water. For the last several
weeks, the fronds have been rapidly turning brown and losing turgor.
I have two suspicions: overwatering, or the pot is too small for the
roots. What amount of watering do palms require? Are they especially
sensitive to crowded potting? I would appreciate any advice.
