TITLE: Associate Professor/Professor and Head
    Department of Plant Science
    College of Agriculture and Natural Resources
    Univ. of Connecticut
    Storrs, Connecticut
    
The Department Head provides leadership in teaching, research and 
extension activities in the field of horticulture, agronomy and 
landscape design.  Currently, the department has 29 professional 
positions, 4 clerical staff and 9 other classified employees.  The 
Department conducts programs in the areas of horticulture, agronomy 
and landscape architecture and offers instruction at the 
undergraduate, M.S. and PhD levels as well as in the 2-year Radcliffe 
Hicks School of Agriculture.

QUALIFICATIONS: A PhD degree in one of the plant sciences, soil 
science, environmental science or landscape architecture and an 
outstanding record of experience in teaching, research and extension 
at the university level is required.  The candidate should show 
evidence of leadership ability and have a thorough understanding of 
budgetary and funding procedures.  Preference will be given to 
candidates with administrative experience and experience in the land 
grant system.  Applicants must meet University requirements for 
appointment to the rank of associate professor or professor.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: The Department Head will be appointed in a 
tenure-track position on an academic year (10 month) basis.  Salary 
is negotiable and competitive, depending on experience and 
qualifications.  The Univ. provides an extensive benefits package.
