Its common name is Old man  saltbush. It is native to the semi-arid and arid
zone of southern and central Australia. Old man saltbush is longlived and
highly drought and salt tolerant. It may be grown where annual rainfall ranges
from ca 200-400mm. It does not easily self sow, fruits should be washed under
running water for 2-4hrs to leach out chemical inhibitors present.
