scale on ficus trees

Scale can be a problem on ficus; you usually see it when the plants have
been stress and you have expossed them to the pest.  You can go the
natural route and try scrubbing them off...use diluted Ivory soap dish
liguid in water and alot of elbow grease.  There are other things that
will work primarily by covering the scale and killing the immatures...the
mature scale really should be scrapped off as they are hard to kill...soft
scale is easier to kill than hard.  You know if your pesticide is working
because the scale will be dry if pinched and flake off easily.  -Becky
