POSTDOCTORAL POSITION - CALCIUM NUTRITION

(Please post in your department and/or pass on to individuals who might be
interested.)

Postdoctoral Position
USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Houston

A postdoctoral position is available immediately to study the whole-plant
regulation of calcium nutrition in Phaseolus, as this relates to the calcium
content of edible tissues (i.e. pods and seeds). Research will involve
membrane transport investigations using intact roots and membrane vesicles,
xylem transport analysis, and assessment of shoot-root interactions. The
position is located at the USDA/ARS Children's Nutrition Research Center,
which is a federally funded laboratory operating in cooperation with Baylor
College of Medicine. The successful applicant will join an active
laboratory working in the area of plant nutrient transport; our long-term
goals are to enhance the nutrient content of plant foods for human consumption.

A recent Ph.D. in plant physiology or related field with a demonstrated
ability to publish is required. I am primarily looking for someone with a
background in membrane transport physiology. The GS11/12 federal position is
funded for two years; certain citizenship restrictions apply. Send
curriculum vitae, list of publications, and the names of three references
to: Dr. Michael A. Grusak, USDA/ARS, CNRC, 1100 Bates Street, Houston, TX
77030. Email: mgrusak at bcm.tmc.edu, FAX:713-798-7087. USDA/ARS is an Equal
Opportunity Employer.
