Post-Doc Plant Molecular Biology Positions Available

POST-DOCTORAL POSITIONS in PLANT MOLECULAR BIOLOGY 
 
 
A position is available to study regulation of genes induced 
by water stress in Loblolly Pine. The project will focus 
mainly on post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression 
and will involve transgenic model plants such as tobacco. 
The successful candidate will have some years experience in 
plant molecular biology, gene transfer using Agrobacterium 
tumefaciens and plant tissue culture techniques. The 
successful candidate will be energetic and capable of 
project leadership, as some advising and direction of  
technicians and students will required.  S/he will 
participate in writing papers, reports and preparing grants.  
 
A second post-doctoral position is available which deals 
with monitoring gene expression using differential display 
and related techniques of gene cloning and transformation.  
 
The Institute of Paper Science and Technology (IPST) is a 
Research University/Graduate School funded by the Pulp and 
Paper Industry. IPST has very strong industrial links and 
research on all aspects of paper making is conducted at the 
Institute. The Forest Biology program at IPST consists of 
three faculty members, four permanent technical staff plus 
graduate students, working in modern, very well equipped 
laboratories. Funding comes from competitive grants and 
contracts and is supplemented by IPST funds. The Institutes' 
Atlanta facility was built five years ago and is located on 
the campus of Georgia Tech in midtown Atlanta. Strong 
collaborative links exist between faculty in both 
institutions. Library and recreational facilities at Georgia 
Tech are open to employees of IPST.
