Two Postdoctoral positions are available to work on disease resistance
and nutritional quality of peanut. The succesfull candidates will
conduct research on the molecular biology of drought and disease
resistance, and improving the protein quality of peanuts. Major goals
include identifying molecular markers for disease and drought
resistance, cloning methionine-rich protein gene, and transformation of
peanut. The appointee will be expected to apply modern molecular
biology techniques, which may include mRNA isolation and in vitro
translation, RAPD, southern and northern hybridization, DDRT_PCR, SSR
and SSCP analysis, gene cloning/vector construction, cDNA library
screening and related techniques, to detect, describe and manage the
behavior of the genes. Our laboratory is fully equipped with necessary
instrumentation and supplies. A Ph.D. in plant science with extensive
knowledge and experience in molecular biology is required. Applicants
