All I know about cabbage is that it seems to be the preferred meal of an 
aweful lot of pests.  I planted in my backyard here in Los Angeles and I 
have had my plants eaten by cabbage loopers, slugs, sowbugs and aphids.  
I want to be organic so I wind up going outside with a flashlight every 
night to hand pick the pests.  I will never plant cabbage again.
