Wyman's Gardening Encyclopedia recommends using one-third glycerine,
two-thirds water and placing the ends of cut branches in it for 3 weeks or
until glycerine can be felt on the leaf edges. Crushing the stem ends with
a hammer before placing them in solution is recommended. Leaves should be
fully mature when cut.
