Eichornia crassipes

Although water hyacinth reproduces primarily by vegetative 
propagation, I have heard somewhere that seeds may be a major source of 
reinfestation once the parent plants have been removed. Is it true and 
could anyone tell me of any written paper adressing this issue. 
Furthermore, is an insect involved in polinisation.
