Hortus Third lists all but Uncaria gambir. Few are native to the U.S. but
are often used.
Calycophyllum (Cuba, Mexico) source of lancewood
Cephaelis (Mex. to Bolivia) source of ipecac, used to make people vomit
up poisons
Cinchona (Peru) source of quinine
Coffea (W. Trop. Africa) coffee
Gardenia (S. Afr.) flowers?
Genipa (Mex. to Peru) blue dye, used to make preserves and drinks
Rubia (S. Europe, Asia Minor) source of dye - alizarin
Vangueria (Madagascar) - edible seeds (current name = V. edulis)
