Growing Populus under irrigation

I am to establish a 15 hectare experiment to grow Poplar under drip 
irrigation.    It is also the intention to cultivate an annual cash crop 
at the same time.   Is there anyone who could give me some any information 
on the subject, or inform me of any literature available or persons whom I 
may contact in this regard.

Are there any other news groups whom I can direct this enquiry to?

There are a number of questions I have:
    optimal spacing
    root spread of Poplar deltoides
    water requirements of Poplar deltoides
    positioning of drip emitters
    optimum soil fertility for poplar
