how to see only the veins of a leaf

I have a question that I hope someone in this group can help me with. I'm
not a scientist, so please bear with me if this is a dumb question.
(Actually, I'm asking this for my mom-in-law who is a great gardener, but
also not a scientist.)

How can I take away the color of a leaf so that only the veins are fully
visible? Of course, I want to do this without damaging the veins. Is it
the chlorophyll that I want to take away? Can this be done by a chemical
process, or some other way?

Please email me directly, if possible.

Thanks,

Ed Leach
