Rhoeo Plant Trivia and Interesting Facts

Does anyone know any trivia about the Rhoeo plant? 
What about interesting general facts about the plant
and its ecological role? (How does it interact with
other plants? with animals? with the atmosphere?)

I am doing some research in this area and will post 
the final library research results as well as any 
responses I get from this posting.
