>The species name for yellow allamanda is Allamanda cathartica L. and
there is a var. herdersonii Raffill (=Allamanda hendersonii Bull). It is
in the Apocynaceae (Dogbane Family). L.H. Bailey's Manual of Cultivated
Plants (1969, Macmillan Co., NY) says the plant was introduced (to the
horticultural world) by Henderson & Co. of England. It is native to
Brazil. Bailey's book is a great reference for botanists and
horticulturists alike.
