If you have mushrooms coming up in your lawn, you must realize that
there is a large network of "roots" , mycelium actually, underground.
Mushrooms or fungi of most types do not like alkaline conditions.  If
you sprinkle a little baking soda on them, they will shrivel up, but
chances are they will come up in another place.  If you give the fungi
infested areas a light coat of lime and water it in, the fungi will die.
Your lawn will appreciate it too.
