In article <19970817162101.MAA19764 at ladder02.news.aol.com>,
traiteusse at aol.com says...
>Grows here in St. Martinsville, LA, subtropical climate.
>When the vine is cut across, there is a distictive pattern showing 4
>sections.
>the leaves are oblong, opposite, about 3". Where the stemmed leaves join,
>there are 4 small round leaves just over 1/4". There are numerous
>tendrills. It is sometimes called "4 piece vine," in the folklore for
>medicinal plants here.

Try "cross-vine", _Bignonia capreolata_, if I recall correctly. [Family
Bignoniaceae].
