Genetic engineering of carotenoid metabolism: a novel route to vitamins, 
colours and aromas 


A postdoctoral position is available in the research group of Prof. 
Peter Bramley to genetically engineer tomato in order to modify the 
carotenoid content of ripe fruit. The three-year post is one of seven 
funded by the EU FAIR programme to modify carotenoids in plants and 
fungi. It is likely that the successful applicant will spend some time 
working in the other European laboratories and at Zeneca Plant Science.

Candidates should have experience in plant molecular biology and 
preferably also in plant transformation and vector construction. The 
appointment will be on the RA1A scale (starting salary £18120, including 
London allowance).
