In the book Organic Method Primer UPDATE, an explanation is given about
forest trees.

Also it is well known that soil fungi can grow from one tree to another,
as thick ropes of fungus called rhizomorphs.``````Oak root fungus is well
known--Armillaria mellea. A Michigan researcher fout that one fungus plant
stretched over at leat 37 acres. No other fungus trespasses on the
territory of this one!! These are tough cables, impossible to completely
dig out.
