Mendel Biotechnology is an agriculturally-oriented biotechnology company
founded in 1997 with a science advisory board (SAB) consisting of Drs.
Chris Somerville (Carnegie Institution), Fred 
Ausubel (Harvard Medical School), Jonathan Jones (Sainsbury Laboratory, UK)
Brian Staskawicz (UC Berkeley), and Elliot Meyerowitz (Caltech). Our aim is
to explore the Arabidopsis genome to discover agriculturally important
genes.  Mendel Biotechnology is uniquely positioned to conduct world class
science in the area of plant functional genomics and to translate these
discoveries into traditional and non-traditional agricultural products.  We
are seeking individuals with exceptional creativity, motivation and
scientific abilities to join us in this challenging and exciting

Research Director

Candidates should be exceptional plant scientists with 5+ years of
industrial experience.  You will interact with the SAB to advance the
scientific strategy and implementation of the Mendel scientific program.  
Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and
proven leadership abilities.  Familiarity with patents, robotics or
informatics is desirable.

Scientist positions

Candidates should have a strong interest or experience in plant functional
genomics and have an in depth expertise in plant physiology, metabolism,
biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics or plant development.
Candidates should have the ability to work well in multi-disciplinary
teams.  We are especially interested in scientists with over 3 year's
postdoctoral experience who use multidisciplinary approaches to biological

Research associate positions

Research associates will work in a multidisciplinary team setting,
providing molecular biology expertise to the team.  You should have a M.Sc.
or B.Sc. degree with experience in molecular biology or genetics and the
ability to work well in a team setting.   Experience with plants and/or
computer programs is desirable.
