PLANT MOLECULAR BIOLOGY POST-DOCTORAL POSTION
at
THE INSTITUTE OF PAPER SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, ATLANTA, GA
A Post-Doctoral position in Plant Biochemistry/Molecular
Biology is available immediately at the Institute of Paper
Science and Technology (IPST). The appointee will be
applying standard biochemistry and molecular biology
techniques to metabolic engineering, in particular to
analyzing and increasing the production of a naturally
occurring pulping catalyst in trees. The project is
sponsored by a grant from the DOE Agenda 2020 program and
the position will be for two years.
IPST is an independent graduate school funded by the Pulp
and Paper Industry. Faculty teach and conduct research on
all aspects of paper making and are vigorous participants in
the scientific community, publishing widely.
The Forest Biology Group at IPST consists of four principal
scientists supported by post-docs, technicians and graduate
students. Current research focuses on embryogenesis, post-
transcriptional regulation of gene expression, xylem
differentiation and flowering. Research is supported by
competitive grants, contracts and internal funds. IPST is
located on the campus of Georgia Tech in midtown Atlanta.
Staff at IPST have access to Georgia Tech facilities.
Candidates for this position should have a Ph.D. in Plant
Molecular Biology or a related field. For more information
