Hi Edward:
DIF is a term used to describe the difference between the day and night
temperature in a controlled environment. A negative DIF (day temp <
night temp)is widely used in the greenhouse industry to reduce stem
elongation in floricultural species. The term was coined by Royal Heins
and his collegues at Michigan State U.
