Dear Colleagues,

Subject: Negev Desert Large Scale Facility

Ben-Gurion University of the Negev is pleased to announce that the
European Union has recognized the Jacob Blaustein Institute for Desert
Research (BIDR) as an EU Large Scale Facility for Desert Studies.
This allows any scientist from an EU member country or from an associated
state (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein) to visit the BIDR for a period of
up to two months. Access will be provided at no cost to the selected
applicants, and will include all infrastructural, logistical, technical
and scientific support that is normally provided to external users of the
facility. The budget covers travel, subsistence and bench fees
Every research facility in the BIDR is entitled to accept visitors ranking
from postdoctoral to senior scientists, pending their screening and
approval by a steering committee, based on the merit of their
applications.

The Facilities:

Access will be provided to the following installation(s):
The Dryland Physical Environment
The Dryland Living Environment
The Dryland Water Research
The Man in the Dryland
Dryland Intensive Plant and Algae Production
The Dryland Extensive Plant Production
Dryland Animal Production

How to Apply:
-Nearest deadlines for submission of applications: June Ist, September 1st
and December Ist.

-The application should include; CV and list of publications, research
proposal to be performed at one of the facilities above (1-2 pages), and
two letters of recommendation to be sent to us, directly (except if the
applicant is at the rank of full professor or its equivalent).

-Priority will be given to users who have not previously used the facility
and who would not normally have access to it.

-The selection process will take into account that the contract with the
EU is intended to finance primarily short visits (up to two months) to the
facility.

-Announcement of awards will be sent within two months.
