The ripe poppy seeds can be used in bread, cakes, and biscuits for a
pleasant nutty flavor. Add to curry powder for texture, flavor, and as
thickener. Also the oil extracted from the seeds of opium poppy can be used
as a salad oil, cooking, burning in lamps, and in manufacture of varnish
paint, and soap.
The unripe seed capsules of the opium poppy are used for extracting of
morphine, and the manufacture of codeine.
All parts of opium poppy, except the ripe seeds, are dangerous and should be
used only by trained medical staff.
