CEA Cadarache, France (2years)

A two years post doc position is available at Cadarache (South France, 80 km
from Marseille). The research project aims to introduce foreign genes with a
high affinity for heavy metals (Zn, Cd, Ni, ...) in the plastid genome of a
higher plant (tobacco). Plastid tranformation will be realized by
polyethylene glycol treatment of protoplasts (O'Neill et al. 1993 Plant J.
3, 729-738). It is proposed to compare the efficiency of different proteins
as well as different strategies of over-expressing the foreign genes.
Applicants should have a good experience in molecular biology and/or plant
cell culture.
The laboratory is involved in a European network (Biotech program 4th PCRD)
aiming to develop techniques of chloroplast transformation.
