Prickly Pear Scale

Is it a houseplant, or outdoors?
Scale is notoriously impervious to sprays, except in the "crawler"
stage of it's lifecycle...BUT they don't crawl as adults, so a good
washing of a potted plant
with enough water pressure to remove the scale, but gentle enough not
to bruse the plant
will usually eliminate the problem after two washings a month apart.
Outside, ants transport the scale from one plant to another, so there
you have to wash AND either bait or spray to stop the ants.
