Geo Specialists, a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of
science and conservation is seeking participants for an upcoming expedition
to the Mountains of One Thousand Caves region of West Sumatra, Indonesia.
The area is a pristine, primary rainforest abundant in wildlife. This five
week expedition will leave June 18, 2000 and involves tropical rainforest
and cave exploration, field camping and data recovery. Participants will be
expected to partake in all aspects of this expedition, and is an excellent
opportunity for individual field research. Site location is in a remote and
inhospitable jungle environment. Applicants should be in decent physical
condition and be able to withstand some discomforts. People with earth
science or caving backgrounds encouraged to apply. Involvement is subject
to Geo Specialists approval and a $4,000 all inclusive, tax deductible
donation (includes r/t airfare, ground transportation, food, lodging, gear,
porters, medic, etc). Catch us in September 1998's National Geographic
(Borneo's White Mountain) and currently on the Outdoor Life Channel's
Adventure Quest Series. Currently, NOVA has expressed interest in our
Sumatra expedition and will possibly join us for the creation of a
documentary on PBS television. For more information about Geo Specialists
and the Sumatra 2000 expedition visit us at http://www.guts.net or contact
us directly at geo at guts.net Serious only apply please. (note: we have
recently had some technical difficulties; those who have already responded
need to do so again, thank you.)
