POSITION AVAILABLE.  Biological Science Laboratory Technician (Plants),
GS-0404-6/7/8/9.  Salary commensurate with experience.  Location: USDA-
ARS- Subtropical Horticulture Research Station, Miami, FL.  The
successful candidate will demonstrate skill and ability in all aspects
of recombinant DNA technology, but especially the extraction,
amplification, cloning and sequencing of DNA.  The candidate should
have the ability to use molecular genetic and phylogenetic software
programs and be familiar with Windows and/or Macintosh personal
computer systems and applications. Ability to operate ABI 310 automatic
sequencers, knowledge of AFLP (amplified fragment length polymorphisms)
analysis, FISH (fluorescent in situ hybridization) methodologies, plant
tissue culture, particularly embryo rescue of seed plants, microscopy,
and ability to identify stages of meiosis and mitosis and verify
chromosome numbers, are desirable.  Must be a U.S. citizen.  For more
