POSTDOCTORAL POSITION
University of California, Riverside
A postdoctoral position is available for research on elucidation of the
Mi-mediated signal transduction pathways. The tomato gene, Mi, mediates
resistance to two distinct organisms, nematodes and an aphid. We have
identified several mutants in the nematode resistance pathway. One of these
mutants, rme1, completely abolishes resistance to both nematodes and the
potato aphid. The position involves mapping and cloning of Rme1 and
continuing screens for additional mutants in the pathway.
Applicants should have experience in genetics and molecular biology,
however, prior work with nematodes or plants is not required. A cover
letter describing research interests, a curriculum vitae and names of three
references should be sent to the address listed below.
