Anemic Amaryllis

After a few years of forcing two Amaryllis bulbs and waking them on my
schedule in January or later, I decided to buy two more bulbs. I
bought two last fall. They came as a kit, bulb, pot and soil. Just
add water.

While in a store last weekend I noticed that some of these kits had
blooms popping out of the box. It had never occurred to me that the
bulb might have its own time table and not stay dormant until watered.

I checked the two I was planning to revive late in January. Much to
my dismay, one of them had already produced two flower stalks. Both
stalks were quite anemic, almost white with just a hint of green. One
of the blooms was dry, the other was still moist.

I potted the bulb immediately. While I expect that these first two
blooms have been sacrificed, the bulb might still be good. It seems
that I have three choices: cut both flower stalks now, cut the one
with the dry flower and leave the one with the moist flower alone, or
do nothing and wait and see what happens.

There are no leaves, just two pathetic flower stalks. Any
suggestions?
