No, the plants will not take anything out of the air so that you would
notice. If they did take up any quantity of pollutants it would damage
them. A HEPA filter with a charcoal outer filter will remove cooking
odors and everything else from the air fairly quickly depending on how
many cubic feet per minute it can handle and the size of the room. It
will freshen a stuffy room. The noise of the fan gets to some people,
but you can put them on a timer to run when you are not home.
