There's a world-famous Desert Botanical Garden near Phoenix.  That would
be one place to start.

Good luck.  It seems that there are areas of Phoenix in which Homeowners'
Associations demand you maintain a green lawn and forbid the use of cacti
or other native plants suited to the climate.  These associations appear
to be an example of fascist cooperatives, a form of social organization
I never imagined possible.
