plant protease

Could you help me?

I have had transgenic tobacco plants that expressed foreign protein.
However, when I did Western Blot, I found it was cleaved. Does somebody know
when the cleavage happened? It happened before the sample making or during
the sample making? Are plant protease everywhere in the cytoplasm or just
kept in somewhere?
