Hi,
I'm afraid I can't see the gel pic, but I also use Trizol for RNA preps
from plants (in my case, a legume). Occasionally I see something that
stains w/ EthBr and remains in the well of the gel (otherwise, the RNA
looks fine on a denaturing agarose gel). I've used these preps for
northerns with no problems. Recently, I've been making cDNA and have
gotten somewhat reduced efficiency (compared to other people in lab).
I don't know if this high molecular weight "stuff" is the cause of the
reduced efficiency.
I've read that after a trizol RNA prep, you can further purify by
running the sample through a Qiagen RNA kit, but I've not tried this myself.
Good luck!
