Stony Brook University is inviting applications for a postdoctoral position
in the Biological, Environmental and Climate Sciences Department in the
biochemical laboratory of Dr. Jorg Schwender at Brookhaven National Lab in
Upton, New York. The position is part of a multi-investigator consortium,
employing integrative genomics, proteomics and quantitative modeling
approaches to provide a transformational understanding about accumulation
of modified fatty acids in plants.
The responsibility of the successful applicant will be to develop and apply
experimental and predictive modeling to better evaluate transgenic events
and to provide non-intuitive solutions to optimization of the accumulation
of modified fatty acids.
Seeking highly motivated applicants with PhD in Chemical Engineering or
related field such as Biochemistry. Laboratory experience in Chemical
Engineering, Biochemistry or related field. Candidates with demonstrated
experience in modeling of metabolic networks, stable isotope metabolic flux
analysis (stationary and instationary), analytical biochemistry (GC/MS
and/or LC/MS), mass spectrometry, systems biology, and skills in
programming and using mathematics software (MatLAb) will be given
preference. Publication record in international journals is also preferred.
