POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE IN GRAVITATIONAL BIOLOGY

A postdoctoral position is anticipated to study the regulation by
gravity
of cell growth and organization in tip-growing cells of moss protonemata.
This work will involve preparing and analyzing an experiment that will fly
on a NASA Space Shuttle. Significant ground-based research will also be
required to study the relationships between light and gravitropism, the
control of organelle position by gravity and the cytoskeleton, and the
responses of various mutants (e.g. see Planta 202: 149-54). Details of an
earlier, related spaceflight experiment (Nov. 1997) can be accessed via our
lab webpage at http://140.254.14.128/sacklab.htm.
A background in cell biology and/or plant physiology is preferred.
This
position requires a willingness to collaborate with NASA personnel in the
execution of the experiment, to occasionally travel to Kennedy Space
Center, and to commit to the position for at least 2-3 years. Hiring is
anticipated in late fall 1997 or in the winter of 1998.
Send a curriculum vitae and names of references to Fred Sack, Plant
Biology, Ohio State University, 1735 Neil Avenue, Columbus Ohio 43210, USA.
Note: I will unavailable during September, 1997
