Nonidet P-40 is a non-ionic detergent (nonaethylene glycol octylphenyl ether)
with a cmc around 0.2 mM in 50 mM salt (so it's going to be tricky to remove
by dialysis). Its CAS registry no. is 9036-19-5. Try getting some from
Sigma or Calbiochem.
