2nd UK Symposium on Nanotechnology in Medicine and the Biosciences
11-12th July 1995
The University of Nottingham,Nottingham UK
the meeting is in association with
DTI Nanotechnology and the Biosciences Forum Group
Royal Society of Chemistry - Analytical Biosciences Group
and is sponsored by the UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council
and the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council
oThe Meeting
Nanotechnology in its broadest sense is now impacting on a range of subject areas from
probing biomolecular structure at the molecular level to understanding disease states and
their treatment. Keeping pace with the developments in this field, this key international
meeting is to address pivotal issues in the application and development of nanotechnology to
medicine and the biosciences. Covering a range of basic, strategic and applied research, key
themes to be discussed include:
oMolecular self-assembly
oInvestigating nanostructures
oBiomedical fabrication
oAdvanced drug delivery
The two day meeting is designed to appeal to both experienced and new researchers in the field.
oThe Speakers
Keynote lectures will be presented by internationally renowned practitioners including:
oProf George Whitesides (Harvard)
oProf Bob Davis (Nottingham)
oDr Christoph Gerber (IBM)
oDr Jim Gimzewski (IBM)
oProf Ron Pethig (Bangor)
oProf Fraser Stoddart (Birmingham)
In addition there will be offered papers and an active poster session. Conference papers will
be published in the journal Nanobiology.
oCall for Abstracts and Papers
Abstracts are invited for oral and poster presentations. The title, list and addresses of
authors and an abstract of up to 250 words should be submitted with the completed
registration form to the conference secretariat by 1st June 1995.
Full conference papers will be published in the journal Nanobiology. Presenters are invited
and encouraged to submit full papers to the journal Editors by 11th July. For further details
contact the conference secretariat.
o Nanotechnology in Medicine and the Biosciences Symposium
This symposium follows the successful meeting last year at The Hammersmith Hospital,
London. The meeting is being held in association with the UK Department of Trade and Industry
Nanotechnology and the Biosciences Forum Group and The Royal Society of Chemistry
Analytical Biosciences Group. The organizers gratefully acknowledge the sponsorship provided
by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council and the Engineering and
Physical Sciences Research Council.
oRegistration Details
The form below should be used for all meeting registrations. The residential fee includes
breakfasts, lunches, coffee, tea, dinner, wine reception and overnight accommodation. The
non-residential fee includes lunches, coffee, tea and wine reception only. A reduced charge
will be levied on applications from postgraduate students (supported by a letter from their
Supervisor).
An additional charge of #10 may be added to all registrations received after 11th June 1995.
