Extracting small amounts of protein from SDS-PAGE

Hi there folks,

I have a friend who has a very small amount (just visible by 
Coomasie and clearly visible by silver stain) of protein on an 
SDS-PAGE gel.  She would like to get it out of the gel.  We 
suggested cutting out the band followed by electro-elution.  Others 
suggested dialysis, and yet others suggested transferring onto 
nitrocellulose and then dissolving the nitrocellulose.

Does anyone have a tried and tested method for getting small amounts 
of protein out of a PAGE gel ?
