To determine the molecular weight:
- crude estimate: SDS polyacrylamide electrophoresis
- precise determination: mass spectroscopy
To identify proteins:
- antibodies on western blot
- N-terminal sequencing (or sequencing of -- e.g. tryptic -- peptides)
