protein precipitation in red blood cell lysates

Im trying to measure an enzymatic activity in red cell lysates. it involves measuring citrulline as a product using a spectrphometer. however, because of the high haemoglobin content there is interference with the absorbance readings.
can anyone advise me how to get rid of the protein effect without affecting my enzyme activity?
