This is the final announcement of the Sixth East Coast Regional Meeting on
Protozoology, to be held June 21-23, 1995 at Union College, Schenectady, New
York, USA. Sponsored by the Society of Protozoologists (but open to both
members and non-members), this meeting offers researchers and students a
forum in which to discuss their latest findings in all areas of the field.
Platform sessions focus on nutrition, physiology, motility, biochemistry,
immunology, genetics, morphology, taxonomy, structural & molecular biology,
ecology, and evolution.
On June 22nd the meeting includes a workshop session at the Wadsworth Center
in Albany, with a roundtable discussion on waterborn protozoa as well as a
tour of the David Axelrod Institute. A vendor display will also be held.
Schenectady is particularly lovely this time of year, and harness racing
fans are happily reminded that the Saratoga flat track is a short trip away.
The NY capital region is also the site of numerous historical landmarks. The
Albany airport is 13 miles from the meeting site, and Amtrack and bus
terminals are conveniently situated in downtown Schenectady. A special rate
of $50 per night for up to quadruple occupancy is available to attendees at
the Days Inn of Schenectady; call them directly at (518) 370-3297 by June 6
to book a room.
Registration is $75 ($65 for students), which includes meals, opening
reception, and bar-b-que social event on June 22nd. For further information
