Postdoctoral Position in Malaria Biochemistry/Molecular Biology

A postdoctoral position is available to join a group investigating
mitochondrial functions in malarial parasites. In addition to carrying
out molecular genetics of the unusual mitochondrial DNA discovered in
this laboratory, studies are also directed at understanding the
molecular mechanisms of selective toxicity of antimalarial drugs such as
atovaquone. A wide range of approaches are used for these
investigations, including molecular cloning and gene transfer, assays
for mitochondrial physiology in live parasites, and adoption of
bacterial and yeast systems for studying parasite proteins. The
individual we seek will have a thorough background in molecular biology
and biochemistry, and a commitment to further our knowledge of the
intriguing mitochondrial genetic system of malarial parasites.
Experience with malarial parasites will be advantageous but is not
essential. Please contact:
