Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Training Opportunities
Molecular Biology of Toxic Dinoflagellates
The Center of Marine Biotechnology
University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute

The Center of Marine Biotechnology (COMB) is one of four
interdisciplinary research centers of the University of Maryland
Biotechnology Institute. Housed in state-of-the-art facilities at the
Columbus Center in Baltimore's Inner Harbor, COMB's location facilitates
scientific interactions with University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins
faculty, as well as governmental scientists (USDA, FDA, NIH).
Investigators also benefit from collaborations with scientists from the
dynamic and expanding commercial biotechnology sector in Maryland.

Graduate student and postdoctoral training postions are available to
conduct research under a broad focus designed to understand the
molecular biology of toxic dinoflagellates, specifically Pfiesteria
piscicida and related species. Applicants should possess the requisite
background in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, or
microbiology. Additional information is available through the COMB
website (www.umbi.umd.edu/~comb) or by e-mail to the principal
investigator.

Dinoflagellate-Bacterial Interactions

Molecular biology of cell-cell communication, signal transduction, and
genetic regulation involved in bacterial cell interactions with toxic
dinoflagellates.
