The Department of Biological Sciences, University of Maryland Baltimore
County (UMBC) seeks an outstanding scientist who combines field study with
molecular, biochemical, or genetic approaches to investigate basic
questions in ecology and/or evolution. This tenure-track, ASSISTANT
PROFESSOR position is in a department that has core research groups in
ecology, developmental biology, molecular biology, plant biology, and
neurobiology, offering doctoral degrees in biological sciences,
environmental science, neuroscience, and molecular/cellular biology

are competitive.  UMBC is a mid-sized university in the
Baltimore/Washington area, which offers a great diversity of potential
research sites, and we host an NSF LTER center.  The successful candidate
will be expected to develop an independent research program and to
contribute to undergraduate and graduate courses in ecology and evolution.
Applicants must have a PhD degree, postdoctoral experience, and a strong
