First Announcement
Symposium on Harmful Marine Algae in the U.S.
December 5-9, 2000
Woods Hole, Massachusetts
Sponsored by the U.S. National Office for Marine Biotoxins and Harmful Algae
Symposium Coordinator: Donald M. Anderson
This is the first of a series of biannual meetings intended to
provide a forum for scientific exchange and technical communication
on all aspects of marine and estuarine HAB research in the United
States. The format will include oral presentations, poster sessions,
and discussion groups, organized by regions (e.g., Northeast,
Mid-Atlantic, Gulf Coast, West Coast, etc.). Technical
demonstrations and workshops are also planned.
Each of these meetings will include special theme sessions or
mini-symposia. In this first meeting, the highlighted theme will be
integrated, multidisciplinary projects within regions, such as the
ECOHAB regional studies. These synthesis presentations will be
followed by contributions on other topics within each geographic
region.
Due to facility restrictions, the number of participants will be
limited, with preference given to scientists working on United States
marine and estuarine HAB issues. Others may apply, but will be
placed on a waiting list pending final registration totals.
Detailed information regarding abstract submissions, sessions,
accommodations, travel, and registration will be included in the
second announcement. You may also visit the Workshop's website at
