The Staden Package WWW site is now mirrored at the University of British
Columbia, Canada, and Washington University, USA. Hopefully an Australian
mirror site will be available soon. The mirror sites contain copies of the
entire WWW site, which includes both the old and new manuals as well as
news and other package information, such as release notes.
Please note that the new documentation (gap4, sip4, trev and pregap) is
distributed with every copy of the package in the WWW format, so there is
little need to connect to the WWW sites to read this documentation. To
access files use (eg with netscape):
The online help also uses these files. The inbuilt help browser is somewhat
basic, but has the advantage of being free for us to distribute. If you
have netscape available it is advised that you add the following line to
your .gaprc and .siprc files. This will enable the online help to use
netscape for browsing instead.
set_def HELP_PROGRAM netscape
Finally, even if you do have a copy of the package with the latest WWW
manual, please do check the package WWW site from time to time as it's more
likely to contain important news than this newsgroup. (The what's new page
is always updated whenever the site changes.)
