I agree that this newsgroup is a bit dead. In my opinion it got killed 
by the excessive amounts of spam generated a few years back (due to the 
bionet policy of having email gateways to all its newsgroups).

There are forums at the sourceforge site 
(https://sourceforge.net/projects/staden/) and an email list there too. 
Currently none of these resources are being utilised by the community.

My gut feeling is to wait a while and see what people prefer most. Eg if 
no one uses the forums, but the email list gets more subscribers then to 
avoid spreading things to thin I'll probably just close the forums.
