Children's health alert!

Greenpeace is campaigning for a ban on soft PVC toys for children
because they can leach hazardous substances which can be ingested when
they are chewed or sucked. Some of these toys, such as teethers, are
even designed to be put into babies mouths. Additives in PVC, known as
phthalates, can cause a range of long term effects including liver
disorders and reproductive problems.

Several European countries have proposed legal and voluntary measures to
stop these toys from being marketed. Now the European Commission has
been requested to take emergency action, but proposals for strong
measures are being blocked by the Industry Commission. The European
Commissioners will discuss this issue at a meeting on May 6th - among
them will be Martin Bangemann, the Commissioner for Industrial Affairs.

Please send urgently to Commissioner Bangemann the e-mail you'll find at
this address:

Thanx for your help.
